Job Summary

The Director, Athletics Operations oversees the planning, organization, and daily operations of the athletic department multimedia video productions.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

Oversees day to day operations of multimedia video productions for games, including but not limited to press conferences, interviews, and game highlights.

Assists in the development of operating budgets and forecasts revenues and expenditures. Researches purchase options, prepares requisitions, and monitors revenue and expenses.

Recruits, hires, and trains a staff of OPS, support and professional employees that assist in carrying out the goals and objectives of the functional area.

Ensures all regulations, policies, procedures, and safety practices are followed.

Assists in the development and implementation of policies, procedures to ensure effective operations.

Develops and implements new initiatives to improve operations.

Serves as a liaison with the university community, vendors, and the general public.

Complies with all University, ASUN or CCSA (Coastal Collegiate Sports Association) regulations, as well as all NCAA rules and regulations. Remains current with all changes in NCAA, as well as changes to University, ASUN and CCSA rules and regulations regarding intercollegiate athletics. This includes the requirement for self-reporting any possible rule violations and participation in the annual NCAA continuing education programs including passing the NCAA certification test, if applicable. Any violation of NCAA rules is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.

Other Duties:

Serves as primary contact for ESPN+.

Serves as liaison with the ASUN’s Director of Broadcast Services for ESPN+ and other conference-based video initiatives.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field.

Five years of full-time professional experience in a higher education athletics department related to the position.

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications will be considered.

Experience operating a personal computer and proficient in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field.

Two years of experience with broadcast production and in-game/in-event video board content implementation focused on sports, preferably collegiate.

Experience with video hardware and software applications, such as: NewTek production equipment, Ross Video production equipment, Daktronics videoboard systems, Nevco videoboard systems, video distribution via ESPN+ protocols, and/or RTMP protocols (comparable systems will be accepted).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge and proficient understanding of the following hardware and software: Adobe Premier, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, NewTek TriCaster, NewTek 3Play, Ross Carbonite, Ross XPression, Daktronics videoboard systems, Nevco videoboard systems, OBS, vMix, ESPN+ transmission protocols, RTMP transmission protocols, non-linear editing.

Knowledge of NCAA, ASUN Conference, and Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) rules and regulations as they pertain to the job duties.

Knowledge and ability to learn Adobe Media Flash Encoder, Display Director, Edius, and non-linear editing.

Knowledge with formatting video and gifs for integration with or into social media.

Knowledge and understanding of various musical genres.

Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects with minimal supervision.

Ability to effectively manage the work of others by providing information, guidance and motivation.

Ability to exercise a high degree of independent judgement in the establishment, interpretation, application, and enforcement of all rules, regulations, and policies.

Ability to anticipate problems and address them proactively.

Ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse group of staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.
