The Department of Accounting in the School of Business at Virginia Commonwealth
University ( VCU ) invites applicants for an adjunct faculty position which begins Fall
2021. The Department has 15 full-time faculty and offers a full range of undergraduate
and graduate programs in Accounting, including a Ph.D. in Business with a
concentration in Accounting. Both the School of Business and the Accounting program
are AACSB -accredited. VCU enrolls over 32,000 students, with 3,900 enrolled in the
School of Business. VCU is located in Richmond, the state capital, which has a thriving
business community and an excellent quality of life. VCU is a diverse academic
community in which people of all backgrounds are welcomed and accepted.
Primary responsibilities include:
Teaching an Accounting Information Systems course in the B.S. Accounting Program. Required Qualifications
Candidates must hold a M.Acc. Degree, or an MBA degree. CISA certification is
preferred. 10 years of IT Audit experience is preferred and Risk Assessment experience
is preferred. Excellent oral and written English language skills are required. Candidates should provide evidence of (1) recent experience teaching undergraduate Accounting courses (although not required), (2) experience in Accounting Information Systems, (3) experience as an IT Auditor (although not required), and (4) experience connecting with the business community to facilitate connections that will be required to identify guest speakers for classroom presentations.

The applicant should demonstrate experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or the commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU .
