Research Technician I, Biological Sciences

Position Summary

A Research Technician position is available in the Genetics Group in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University at Buffalo ( SUNY ). The position involves assisting with administrative tasks and laboratory maintenance for four research groups that share a common lab space. The members of the group are Drs. Cullen, Ferkey, Rusche, and Yu. We study MAPK and G protein-coupled signal transduction pathways, and regulation of gene expression through chromatin modifications and protein arginine methylation. Key Job Duties Include:
  • Prepare common lab solutions, including buffers and growth media
  • Pour plates
  • MaintainC. elegansand yeast strains
  • Order and stock lab supplies
  • Keep lab in compliance with safety guidelines

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates for the position should have a bachelor’s degree in Biology or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications

Applicants should be highly motivated, well-organized, and capable of multi-tasking. A solid understanding of genetics and biochemistry, molecular biology (including subcloning, PCR and DNA electrophoresis), and general chemistry is essential.
