Schedule Information: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday thru Friday, Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings and weekends as required

Hours per Week: 37.5

Work Conditions: Work is primarily indoor and sedentary in nature. Frequent evening and weekend duties.

Duties of Position: Provides leadership and support to all functions of the cultural center, its programs and outreach efforts that lead to improved campus climate

Oversees the creation, staffing, financial and programmatic management of a new cultural center.

Coordinates campus-wide cultural events and programs with the VP of DEI, the Provost Office, Human Resources and other departments which celebrate the diversity of our community and educates the campus community on issues of identity, diversity, inclusion, race and social justice.

Develops programs and events which complement and enrich the academic experience, promote identity exploration, and enhance the leadership skills of historically underrepresented and marginalized students and employees.

Coordinates and sponsors a wide variety of events such as guest authors and speakers, films, lectures, artistic performances, and workshops.

Oversees existing initiatives such as Employee Resource Groups, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Workshops, Lunch and Learn Dialogue Series and the DEI Book Club series.

Provides direct support to students and multicultural student organizations and creates an environment where students from historically underrepresented and marginalized backgrounds can thrive.

Serves as an advocate and provides support for student affinity groups and Employee Resource Groups including DREAM, SAFE and LAND.

Assists in the planning and management of cultural heritage months and graduation ceremonies in collaboration with Student Involvement and other departments.

Creates and directs new initiatives, including assessment and reporting of key metrics which lead to improvement in college climate scales.

Collaborates with other departments, committees and shared governance groups to help improve campus climate.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements: Master of Education in Student Affairs Administration, Higher Education, College Personnel, Counseling, or related field.

Experience Requirements: Minimum of 3 years experience working in Multicultural/Diversity Affairs Leadership/Student Development, Student Activities or related area in a university setting required. Experience working with multicultural/diverse student populations required. Proven effectiveness in human relations including the ability to relate well with all segments of the campus. Strong assessment and data utilization background required. Required knowledge of student development theory, racial and ethnic identity development, feminist and/or queer theory. Experience planning large scale events from initiation to assessment. Group facilitation skills required. Must have strong communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and social media and marketing mediums required.
