Department Summary
The Departments of Romance Languages, East Asian Languages and Literatures, and German and Scandinavian are instructional and research departments within the College of Arts and Sciences. The Departments are composed of over 70 faculty members of different national origins, both nationally and internationally distinguished, and over 75 graduate students. The Departments teach over 6000 students a year.

Position Summary
This position will be responsible for financial transactions and reporting, all aspects of travel from requests through reconciliation, and all departmental purchasing and inventory tracking. This position will also serve as backup for other office workers and functions. The person in this position works closely with and assists the Finance and Administration Manager, the Department Head, and other related personnel.

Minimum Requirements
  • Two years of general clerical experience OR
  • An Associate's Degree in Office Occupations or Office Technology OR
  • Graduation from a private school of business with a Certificate in Office Occupations or Office Technology and one year of general clerical experience

    College courses in Office Occupations or Office Technology will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with all levels of professionals and frequent distractions
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to set own priorities to coordinate multiple assignments with fluctuating and time-sensitive deadlines
  • Proficiency with software including Word, Excel, and Windows and the ability to learn University electronic processes
  • Demonstrated experience with and/or commitment to working effectively with individuals from internationally diverse backgrounds, in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment

    Preferred Qualifications
  • University/higher education experience interpreting and enforcing policy, rules, and regulations
  • Experience working with Banner Information System and Cognos
  • Experience processing and reporting on payroll, accounts payable, and travel
