Accounting Technician

Primary Purpose of Position:
The primary purpose of the position is to assist sponsors, administrators, faculty and staff with Post-Award services related to extramural funding for North Carolina Central University. The post-award administrator explains, interprets and implements, university, state, federal regulations related to grant activities. This position explains, interprets, and implements university, state, and federal accounting regulations related to grant activities. This requires a high-level of detail-oriented duties.
Minimum Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The successful candidate must possess a working knowledge of Banner Finance or an equivalent system; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word and Excel) Applications; ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Costing Accounting Standard, and OMB Circulars; ability to read, interpret and consistently apply State and University budget and fiscal policies and procedures; ability to monitor and collect data to assess accuracy and integrity of financial transactions; ability to work independently with little or no supervision; to take initiative to see projects and assignments through to completion; to learn, interpret and analyze information to make necessary decisions; to exercise judgment and discretion in problem solving; to plan, prioritize and organize workflow; ability to work flexible schedules; excellent analytical and organizational skills along with written and oral communication; great interpersonal skills to interact effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of individuals in a high pressure environment.
