The Senior Associate Dean will enhance both the financial resources and the reputation of the VHS to attract and retain high-quality faculty, staff, and students and provide excellence in service standards to our clients and constituency. The Senior Associate Dean will also implement policies and procedures which support and enhance the goals of the college in teaching, research, outreach, and service, and help ensure the VHS and the college are in alignment with CSU policies, State and Federal laws, sponsor requirements and any other applicable, governing regulations or restrictions. The Senior Associate Dean will mentor and oversee the leadership of the VHS including directors, technical professionals, operational staff, and administrators. Positions that will report directly to the Senior Associate Dean include a VHS Administrator (to be created), current directors of the operations listed above (Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH), Veterinary Diagnostic Lab (VDL), Flint Animal Cancer Center (FACC), Translational Medical Institute (TMI) and the Johnson Family Equine Hospital (JFEH), as well as any future positions to be named/determined by the VHS Senior Associate Dean as well as the VHS Service Advisory Council (SAC). The position will develop and oversee the annual VHS budget and in addition, would be responsible for the evaluation of and potential implementation of changing the VHS from a university-based to a 501c(3) nonprofit organization.
