Audio Visual Technology Specialist, Conference and Event Support

Under the supervision of the Managing Assistant Director of Technical Services, Documentation Developer/Webcast Manager, the Audio Visual Technology Specialist, Conference and Event Support (Professional Services Specialist IV, Computer Services) provides audio visual support for day-to-day university activities, including conferences, meetings and events and is responsible for testing, trouble-shooting and repairing audio-visual equipment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supporting campus conferences, meetings and events which are scheduled through OCIS; maintaining damaged devices; taking accurate inventory of equipment; distributing and collecting media equipment; assisting the Managing Assistant Director with technical support documentation, guides and user communications; and does other related work as required. This position is based at the Union, NJ campus but supports other campus locations in New Jersey and in Wenzhou, China. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.

This is not a remote position and requires a physical presence on campus as determined by the Supervisor. It requires working on campus during the COVID-19 pandemic and interacting directly with students following all procedures and protocols set forth in the University’s Restart Plan and any procedures/protocols created through additional correspondence. The employee must have the ability to wear a face covering for the duration of the workday during the COVID pandemic or as determined by university protocol.

Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience in one or more of the following areas: data processing, installation and maintenance of application programs, technical support and/or design and preparation of programs. Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute experience on a year for year basis. Preferred qualifications include: a Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science or a related field and two or more years of experience in testing, troubleshooting and repairing audio-visual equipment, plus knowledge of computer software installation, cameras, tripods, monitors, audio recording devices, lighting gear, cables, mixers and other peripherals. B ackground in live sport/event production and IT and k nowledge in the operation of Crestron, Tandberg and Polycom devices, Microsoft Windows, MAC OS and MS Office Suite is also preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.

The selected candidate will be required to pass a four (4) month Working Test Period to become eligible for a regular appointment.
