Job Summary

The lifeguard position ensures the safety of pool patrons and assists with aquatic programs and pool operation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Safeguards and regulates conduct of pool patrons
• Enforces pool policies, rules, and regulations
• Rescues patrons and performs appropriate follow-up procedures, including the proper use of equipment in the performance of first aid
• Tests water quality in pool and maintains appropriate records
• Assists in the proper maintenance and sanitary up keep of the pool, pool area, and locker rooms
• Provides written reports on all accidents
• Maintains proper updated safety requirements
• Attends in-service training and instructs certain skills to staff
• Conducts patron swimming test to assess ability to swim independently and unattended
• Provides customer service to patrons, including handling customer conflict and complaints, as necessary
• Performs work safely in accordance with departmental safety procedures
• Operates equipment safely and reports any unsafe work conditions or practice to supervisor
• Maintains equipment and materials used within the department
• Maintains room in clean, orderly manner and provides strict security and accountability
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through the Tarrant County College ( TCC ) Institute
• Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College
• Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma ( GED )
• American Red Cross Lifeguard certification
• First Aid certification
• CPR / AED certification

Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Lifeguard experience

Knowledge, Skills and Ability

• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software

Special Instructions Summary

This is is an on-call position, maximum 19.5 hrs. per week. On-call work schedules may vary based on individual campus/departmental needs.

This is a “Pooled” posting utilized to hire Lifeguard I positions.
