Starting Salary: $ 40,249.00+

Reports To: Director, Academic Retention and Certification Center

Positions Supervised: Student Employee positions

Job Summary

The candidate status coordinator works with students, faculty, and staff to smoothly transition candidates through the educational process. This position provides, analyzes, and summarizes data to identify efficient processes and policies for positive student outcomes.

Essential Job Functions and Performance Indicators

The intent of this job description is to provide a representation of the types of duties and level of responsibility that will be required of positions given this title. Job Responsibilities and Execution

  • Assists, advises, and provides recommendations to students in order to meet program requirements, state assessments, and certification requirements
  • Collects, prepares, and retains data for all candidates
  • Aggregates data and creates reports reflecting candidate stages and performance levels; assists in preparing reports required by national and state accrediting agencies
  • Calculates or checks for accuracy of candidates’ grade point averages
  • Reviews and analyzes course equivalencies/transcripts to better advise students; evaluates and makes recommendations regarding entry into teacher education
  • Advises students with regard to services for successful completion of program assessments; coordinates student meetings as necessary
  • Assists with student program planning; recommends best practices to improve student retention
  • Maintains current and accurate knowledge of Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) requirements, national accreditation requirements, and educator assessment systems
  • Writes, edits, proofreads, and formats documents; oversees annual revisions to procedural handbooks and websites
  • Uses Foliotek (electronic portfolio management system) to convert paper forms/evaluations, such as candidate evaluation forms and placement applications, to electronic copies
  • Utilizes data to assist in making decisions influencing policies and practices

  • Supports the mission of the university and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of service excellence
  • Models, supports, and holds others accountable to the University’s values – integrity, dedication, excellence, creativity, and teamwork
  • Develops more efficient and effective means of assisting candidates to successful completion of programs

Communication, Teamwork, and Collaboration

  • Collaborates to establish Advisement & Recruiting Resource Center (ARRC) processes and trainings; works with colleagues on systems development
  • Answers phone, responds to email, and schedules meetings; maintains adequate amount of office supplies
  • Updates candidates and advisors regarding candidate status

Job may require other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications – An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 2 year’s relevant job experience preferred

  • Ability to create an inviting office environment for candidates and faculty
  • Desire to foster a transparent team environment

Work Environment – Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of this job’s functions.

  • General office setting at campus and also various sites/host locations
  • Some evenings and weekends possible
