Interim Costume Shop Supervisor

Denison University is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as our Interim Costume Shop Supervisor. This individual will manage day-to-day operations of the costume shop at the Eisner Center for the Performing Arts in support of the departments of Theatre, Dance, and Music. Coordinate the work flow of the costume shop, train and supervise a staff of student employees, and realize costume designs through patterning, draping, construction, purchase, loan, or use of costume stock. Work collaboratively across departments to support the creative process while maintaining production schedules and budgets.

Minimum qualifications include: A Bachelor’s degree with a focus in costume design/technology or equivalent education and experience. Experience in the management side of costume shop operations including allocation of resources for overlapping projects. Demonstrated knowledge of advanced sewing skills including the ability to operate and maintain costume shop equipment and tools including sewing machines, sergers, professional pressing equipment, measuring and cutting tools. Familiarity with historical or period costumes as well as an understanding of strategies for costuming varying styles of dance.
