An entry-level professional with design training relevant to both print and electronic formats, the Design Associate works alongside the Associate Director of Design to create brochures, proposals, programs, email templates, email headers and imagery, signage, PowerPoint presentations, and other publications. This person employs programs such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat to advance the fundraising efforts of the office of University Advancement and help our gift officers secure and steward philanthropic donations.
The Design Associate is integral to the success of the Annual Fund, helping the Associate Director of Design with annual giving appeal letters and graphics. Further, Northeastern is in the planning phase to launch a major university-wide fundraising campaign, and the Design Associate will help bring the campaign to life, creating materials for print, mail, and web-based applications.
The ideal candidate will have both creative design and project management skills to support Northeastern's efforts to engage our donors, cultivate their profound long-term commitment, and disseminate information about our fundraising efforts. This person should enjoy creative problem-solving, juggling multiple projects, and being part of a fun, fast-paced communications team in a thriving fundraising office. The Design Associate reports to the Associate Director of Design and is available to Senior Advancement Leadership for special projects.
- Bachelor's degree with a concentration in graphic or digital
- One to two years of creative design experience in print and
- A vibrant portfolio that shows an eye for artistic and creative
- Good working knowledge of the following programs: InDesign,
Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, WordPress, Microsoft Office, and
- Interpersonal communications and project management
- The ability to work well with diverse audiences, manage
workload independently at times, and oversee ongoing projects
- A strong desire to serve the needs of a fast-paced
communications operation that is moving toward greater
incorporation of the full range of print, multimedia, and online
communications tools to meet strategic goals.
