About the Opportunity:
The Director of Diversity Initiatives and Engagement leads the programs dedicated to enhancing diversity initiatives across the College for faculty, staff and students, as well as to lead programs to enhance student experience of both prospective and current students in the College of Arts, Media and Design. These include pre-college development, recruitment, mentorship, and retention throughout student experience in CAMD, in close coordination with department level initiatives, admissions and advising staff, and the work of the new Dean of Students.

Responsibilities:
The Director of Diversity Initiatives and Engagement will focus on increasing diversity within the CAMD community. They will liase with the CAMD Racial and Social Equity Advising Board, and work closely with the Dean's Special Assistant for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging, to ensure an inclusive and supportive workplace and learning community across the College, and to facilitate access and communication with University services. The Director will oversee a mentor program for under-represented students that continues through the students time at CAMD, from orientation to job search / graduation; and will also develop a mentor program for under-represented faculty and staff, coordinating with appropriate Associate and Assistant Deans.

The Director of Diversity Initiatives and Engagement will be responsible for a Summer Bridge Program that will focus on outreach and future development. The Director will take the lead in coordinating the program, identifying fundraising opportunities, and planning CAMD Bridge events with CAMD faculty. In addition, the Director will play a key role in relation to the portfolio application process for CAMD, to develop portfolio review criteria in conjunction with college faculty that encompasses creative and interdisciplinary potential, with a focus on diversity.

In addition, The Director of Diversity Initiatives and Engagement will have key responsibility for overseeing the nature of the student, staff and faculty experience in CAMD, connecting with the various leaders in Departments, Advising, Coop, etc. who have key responsibilities to lead initiatives in these areas. The Director will coordinate the Student Advisory Board. Figuring out how to effectively make connections, provide communication ,and link students, staff and faculty to what is available will be a key aspect of the position.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred, with seven to ten years of academic program and student services experience. The ideal candidate must be able to handle complexity in a fast-paced environment and be comfortable operating student services-related software and data systems. Excellent interpersonal communications and effective writing, organizational and analytical skills are essential. Must have proven ability to work independently, be adaptable to new systems and procedures, and be highly responsive to student, faculty, and staff needs and diverse perspectives. Must have demonstrated experience working effectively with enhancing racial and social equity.
