Job Summary:
Connecticut College is conducting a national search for an Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing & Events, Coordinator of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. As a member of the Director of Athletics leadership team, this position is responsible for department marketing, event management and coordinator of the diversity, equity and inclusion work. This position will attend and actively contribute to the Athletic Department staff meetings and provide feedback, make recommendations on new policies, procedures, programs, and services for continual improvement, and perform other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of athletic marketing, events, facility rentals and in-game management and be able to successfully and efficiently manage multiple tasks simultaneously. General Duties & Responsibilities:
The Assistant Athletic Director will be responsible for events, marketing and diversity, equity and inclusion efforts for the Athletic Department. They will serve as the primary event manager during home athletic events and post season tournaments (NESCAC and NCAA); oversees all facets of the event to include; staffing, crowd control, officials, broadcast, special events & ceremonies, visitors guide; assists in the implementation of department, college and website event calendar; responsible for athletic facility rentals, staffing and oversight; oversee the hiring, training and supervision of all event and facility staff, interns and student workers; direct all facility scheduling for events, practices, clubs, and external rentals; responsible for all contracts for home events; responsible for all officials and external staff for home events to include; assignment, scheduling, evaluating and payment; and assist Associate Athletic Director for Facilities and Operations with athletic facility/field oversight.

The Assistant Athletic Director will work closely with Athletic Director on all marketing, promotions, sponsorship and branding related projects; overseeing the development and implementation of marketing/attendance initiatives to maximize attendance for home events and championships (NESCAC and NCAA); develop effective relationships with internal and external constituents and work to build a fan centered gameday; responsible for effective management, hiring, training and evaluating of marketing interns or student workers; liaison to the college musical and choral groups for event performances and will identify opportunities for sponsorship and community partnerships for athletic facilities and athletic website.

The Assistant Athletic Director will also advise coaches on the development of programs and policies that support the recruitment and retention of diverse and underrepresented populations of student-athletes; staff Co-Advisor to the Connecticut College Athletes of Color Coalition (CCACC), and help integrate recommendations from that group into the department culture; provide strategic direction for staff and student-athlete diversity education and training and professional development initiatives to build and sustain a climate of equity and inclusion; assess and monitor the overall tone of an inclusive culture within the department; assist in the development of strategies and processes that promotes the hiring, retention, staff and will be the liaison to Dean of Institutional Equity and Inclusion department.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred in relevant field; Athletic Administration, Sports Management, Sports Marketing, Marketing or Communications; 3– 5 years of progressive experience in professional or collegiate marketing and event management required. Demonstrated experience effectively working with diverse populations and developing innovative initiatives for underrepresented populations; knowledge of equity, diversity and inclusion framework and best practices, and relevant state and federal laws; demonstrated success host collegiate, conference, and NCAA post-season events. Demonstrated ability to lead and direct other; experience with risk management and assisting with emergency management planning. Proven ability to work independently and identify and resolve problems efficiently and effectively. Strong organizational skills including the ability to regularly set and manage time-sensitive priorities and work efficiently under critical deadlines while handling multiple tasks simultaneously; excellent verbal and written communication skills; innovative, creative and contributor who recommends and implements new ideas. Must be able to lift, hold, carry, pack, unpack, transport and deliver materials, supplies and athletic equipment weighing up to approximately 50 lbs. to and from events or designated locations. Required availability to work extended hours beyond the typical business day, nights and weekends throughout the year.
