Montgomery College is currently accepting applications for a possible opening as a part-time faculty member teaching a non-credit online course in Art History dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of Phillips Collection to the Lifelong Learning Institute’s students. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrates the ability to engage adult learners.

***Montgomery College accepts applications for Adjunct/Part-time Faculty on a continuous basis . Applications may be reviewed periodically based on the student enrollment needs. ***

  • The listing of a course in the schedule of classes as “TBA” does not constitute an assignment.
  • The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academic judgment and shall be determined at Management’s sole discretion.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach short-term, non-credit fitness courses (see below) via Zoom in an engaging and professional manner. Students are older adults.
  • Manage students and the online teaching environment.
  • Prepare slides and other teaching materials.
  • Take attendance each class session.

Celebrating 100 Years of The Phillips Collection: A Virtual Tour

The Phillips Collection in Washington DC turns 100. Explore highlights of the collection through a curated virtual tour. Analyze artistic movements represented in the Phillips Collection. Examine the history and purpose of works within the collection. Discuss the most significant objects of art in terms of their author, genre, style, history, and meaning.

6 Hours, Zoom Structured Remote, 3 Sessions

Wednesdays; October 6, 2021 - October 20, 2021; 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Required Qualifications:

  • Masters in Art History or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching online.
  • Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the Colleges strategic plan of inclusion.
  • Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus). Montgomery College (MC) provides an MC e-mail account and access to the learning platform, password-protected faculty sections of the website, college listservs, and other faculty communications tools.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.
