The Coordinator, Living-Learning Communities (LLC) facilitates the day-to-day logistics and all aspects of LLC programming for of the University College Living-Learning Community (LLC) and the Sophomore LLC communities. The Coordinator is responsible for LLC cohort development including community building, working with faculty to align course content with co-curricular learning experiences, and responding to cohort-based needs (student and/or faculty), as needed. The Coordinator supervises student employees and serves as the first point of contact and communications liaison for the LLCs.

Essential Functions
  1. Assists with the development, planning, and implementation of LLC activities consistent with the program’s goals including Welcome Week, program-wide events, and cohort-based events. Provides direct assistance with event set up and breakdown. Works with student employees and LLC faculty to develop co-curricular programming that connects students to classroom content through shared experiences. Collaborates with campus partners, including Housing and Residence Life (HRL) and our Honors & Scholars programs, to plan and implement meaningful and accessible residence hall programming that will enhance the cohort experience. Liaises with HRL to respond to any urgent student housing crises/issues.
  2. Supports University College and Sophomore LLC faculty by aiding in the creation of program/cohort goals, reporting on activities that support the LLC themes and learning outcomes, and facilitating communication and collaboration between LLC students and LLC student staff.
  3. Assists in planning annual and ongoing trainings and development opportunities, conducts group and individual check-ins, and supports the recruitment of new undergraduate student employees. Provides supervision and mentorship for graduate and undergraduate student employees consistent with the principles and practices that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  4. Performs administrative functions including budget tracking and payment processing, record keeping, and front-line customer service for student inquiries. Provides recruiting and marketing assistance as needed.
  5. Other duties as assigned.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
  • Full time (this position is a full-time position currently funded through June 30, 2022. The continuation of this position is contingent upon funding)

  • This is a union-eligible position. The union-eligibility of individual position incumbents will be determined based on the incumbent’s employer of record.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Experience working in an environment striving to incorporate anti-racist practices.

  • Communication Skills: Ability to express oneself orally and in writing in a clear and concise manner and produce written material that is free of spelling and grammatical errors.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to related well to and develop and maintain effective relationships with people from varied backgrounds and situations; demonstrate understanding, concern, and empathy for others; effectively relate to people who are displaying hostility or distress; and respond appropriately to the needs and feelings of different people in different situations.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to organize, carefully prepare, and review one’s own work to ensure completeness and accuracy; clarify and juggle competing priorities, expectations and timelines; manage time effectively; set up procedures to ensure high quality of work and adherence to deadlines; follow up with others to ensure that agreements and commitments have been fulfilled; and to adapt organizational methods to the pace and demands of work to maintain consistent quality and effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with a diverse student body and faculty.
  • Strong database management skills.
  • Must be able to assist with the physical set up and breakdown of events equipment, including the ability to lift up to 30lbs. Must be able to manipulate small objects distributed to students and other stakeholders for outreach purposes (e.g., gift bags, brochures)
