Tenure-Track 10-month contract

 

DePaul University

The College of Communication at DePaul University seeks a tenure-track assistant professor to teach in the area of sports communication, with teaching and research expertise in sports-related journalism, strategic communication, or sports media production to begin August 2022.

This candidate will teach in DePaul’s rapidly growing B.A. program in Sports Communication which began in Fall 2018. Sports Communication is one of the fastest-growing majors in the College, with concentrations in sports journalism, sports publicity, and sports and society. The major is offered in conjunction with the Sports Management program in the DePaul University Driehaus School of Business, creating a vibrant cross-college partnership. The ideal candidate will be able to teach a range of sports-oriented Communication courses, including but not limited to sports reporting; sports social media, sports analytics, sports campaigns, sports crisis communication, and other sports media skills classes, including graduate courses offered in the Sports Journalism MA concentration. Professional experience in the sports industry is highly desirable.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. in communication or related fields is required. ABDs will be considered, but applicants must have a doctoral degree by the time of appointment. Professional sports industry experience is highly desirable. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Excellent research support available.
