The UC Administration invites applications for an Accounting Associate I to join their team. Under the general direction of the University Center’s Accounting and Business Manager, the UC Accounting Associate is responsible for the support operations through organization, reception, clerical, administrative support and accounting functions. This position maintains the buildings key inventory, petty cash, manages all administrative functions of the office and assists with many of the accounting processes and procedures all while providing excellent customer service. The person assigned to this position performs a variety of technical and routine tasks including but not limited to the following:
- Provide comprehensive reception and administrative support for the University Center
- Process and maintain building keys, deposits/refunds and reconciliation
- Administer accounts receivable payments, and billing resolutions for University Catering, UC, and Conference & Event Services, Conference Management Services, James E Todd Center
- Serves as reviewer and back-up support for student and staff payroll cycles
- Oversee and process Procard transactions in Banner as the account manager
- Manage petty cash distributions, post transactions and reconcile weekly
- Assist in Fiscal Year End closing procedures and reporting
- Practice sound accounting or financial procedures to ensure accountability and compliance
- Customer/client care and public relations specialist

- Proficient in use of business tools, equipment, accounting systems, and software (spreadsheet programs, campus financial management systems, event management systems) e.g., Banner, Event Management System (EMS), Orbital Shift, Microsoft Office Suite applications, multi-function copiers, etc.
- Provide interpretation of policies and make sound recommendations as needed
- Strong commitment to confidentiality/discretion
- Research errors and take corrective actions using critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; the ability to write clearly and in a professional manner
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to teach others/share knowledge; and an intrinsic interest in and the motivation to learn without prompting

- Responsible for producing routine and special request reports
- Perform daily operation of the Administration Office based on generally accepted professional office practices and procedures
- Order inventory of supplies, equipment, and services
- Organized and detail-focused; meet deadlines in a busy environment with attention to detail
- Basic cash handling; accurately disburse funds and reconcile petty cash
- Accurately manage accounts receivables (approx. 3 million per year)
- Demonstrate emotional intelligence, including self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and interpersonal skills
- Exhibit reliable and honest behavior; practice and model ethical behavior
- Accurately represent the department and institutional mission and values through behavior and model desired behaviors and teach through example
- Promote an atmosphere conducive to cooperation and motivation; contribute productively in group settings and work in teams; active participation in staff meetings, training sessions, staff development workshops and retreats
Minimum Required Experience
- High School diploma and two (2) years of progressively responsible experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Position Details

Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year.
Salary: $13.375/hr .
Union Affiliation: FOCUS-MFPE
Probationary Period: Six months minimum
