Summary:
The Art & Design Department at Utah Valley University invites applications for a one-year lecturer position in Art Education to begin August 2021. We seek a visionary and collaborative art educator who will be responsible for: teaching undergraduate courses in art education, mentoring students, supervising student teaching, overseeing the Art Education area, and working with the School of Education on assessment. The candidate is expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence, as well as to teaching diverse learners and modeling inclusive practices.

UVU, located in Orem, Utah, is a comprehensive state institution of higher education with over 40,000 students. Orem is on the western front of the Wasatch Mountains and offers access to numerous outdoor activities including snow sports, hiking, mountain biking, and hunting. The Wasatch Front metropolitan area offers rich cultural opportunities in the arts including the Sundance Film Festival and world-class music and dance companies. The UVU campus is served by a wonderful public transit system, including a rail line that runs along the entire Wasatch Front urban corridor. Required Qualifications:
Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a Master’s degree in Art Education or related field of study is required. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of art education theory and pedagogy- Knowledge in art practices, theory, and history - Knowledge in art education assessment - Knowledge in student management, motivation and evaluation techniques
- Experience with a variety of teaching methods and/or curricular perspectives
- Skills in teaching art education and related practices - Skills in art education theory and pedagogy- Excellent communication skills- Skills in interpersonal relationships, problem-solving and decision-making
- Ability to relate well with students and colleagues.- Ability to evaluate student work effectively both orally and in writing.- Ability to apply appropriate technology in classroom teaching.



Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Art Education preferred, but not required. Experience in teaching secondary methods preferred. Experience with art education student teaching supervision preferred. Experience teaching/working in linguistically, culturally, and economically diverse settings preferred.

Physical Requirements:
Normal classroom requirements.

Pay Range: $47,000 - $55,000
