About the Opportunity:
The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Northeastern University seeks a Senior Laboratory Technician in Advanced Organic and Inorganic Chemistry to start ideally in the fall of 2021.

Responsibilities:
The Senior Laboratory Technician will prepare instructional material and laboratory samples for organic, advanced organic, and inorganic chemistry laboratory courses.

This position will meet with faculty each semester to plan curriculum and syllabi, participate in lab instruction, assist undergraduate students during lab sessions, update laboratory protocols, train graduate students, manage hazardous waste, perform maintenance and repairs on spectrometry equipment, and coordinate with equipment vendors on major repairs and problems including software and hardware upgrades.

This position will also meet with faculty to strategically plan for new experiments in growing areas of chemical science including drug design and discovery. This position will also help undergraduate students with research projects, instrument training and data processing.

Qualifications:
Excellent chemical hygiene and laboratory safety record. Strong organizational and communication skills and must be able to meet deadlines. Experience using laboratory equipment including NMR, Mass Spectrometry, Liquid Chromatography, FTIR, and UV-VIS. Specific experience in fluorescent labeling and Click Chemistry is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in chemistry, or Bachelor's degree with five years or more experience in supervising a university teaching lab.
