The Department of Biomedical & Pharmaceutical Sciences at
Chapman University School of Pharmacy (CUSP) seeks highly motivated
applicants for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, beginning September
2021.

Located on the Chapman University Rinker Health Science Campus in
Irvine, California, CUSP offers a professional PharmD program and
MS and PhD programs in Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Biomedical
& Pharmaceutical Sciences department currently employs 21
full-time faculty with research interests in drug discovery and
development, pharmacology, structural biology, immunology, drug
delivery, pharmacokinetics/ pharmacodynamics, and social and
administrative sciences. Chapman University has made significant
infrastructure investments to enhance biomedical and pharmaceutical
research programs at the CUSP. The new facilities consist of
state-of-the-art research laboratories, vivarium, core facilities,

Qualifications
Candidates with a Ph.D. degree in immunology or virology or a related areas with interest in the areas of B cell immunology, herpesvirology, and host-virus interactions will be considered. Additionally, the position requires prior experience with multi-color flow cytometry and cell biology demonstrated by strong peer-reviewed publications. Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team are essential.
Responsibilities
The research involves using ex vivo models of human tonsil
lymphocytes to explore the establishment of Kaposi Sarcoma
Herpesvirus infection in B lymphocytes. The specific
responsibilities include:
• Plan and conduct original research and analyze data either alone
or in collaboration with supervisor and associates.
• Supervise undergraduate and graduate students in their
research
• Maintain laboratory equipment
• Maintain research and laboratory protocols and notes
• Communicate research findings
• Perform other duties as assigned
