Sr. Coordinator Experiential Learning

The Johns Hopkins Carey Business School embraces an experiential learning approach that exposes students to complex business challenges, provides them with constructive feedback and opportunities for reflection, and enables them to learn by applying evidence-based approaches in current business contexts.

The Office of Experiential Learning (OEL) for the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School is responsible for implementing this model of learning through program and course design; integrating regional, national, and international business projects in school programs and courses; developing and administering dynamic domestic and international experiences; and supporting other curricular and co-curricular experiential learning initiatives.

OEL seeks aSenior Coordinator, which is a critical new role within a growing office and will support the implementation of international and domestic project-based learning courses and other departmental processes and efforts. The Senior Coordinator will work closely with the Office of Experiential Learning Assistant Directors to plan and execute the delivery of courses that integrate corporate and nonprofit projects. The coordinator will problem solve complex logistics needs, administer contracts and invoices, facilitate student and external partner communication, and administer and evaluate post-program surveys. The Senior Coordinator will also collaborate with the OEL team to develop and organize internal policies, procedures, documents, and resources to further the office’s mission.

The Senior Coordinator will be primarily located in Baltimore with some travel to the Washington, DC campus. Off hours/weekends maybe required to accommodate program needs. The Senior Coordinator reports to the Director of Experiential Learning and Programs Risk Management.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

Program and Course Logistics Planning and Execution – 50%

    Collaborate with Assistant Directors to develop logistics plans for international and domestic travel for project-based courses. Problem solve and coordinate complex logistics issues with external project partners and internal team. Facilitate logistics contracts with travel partners.

Program Communication – 20%

    Collaborate with Assistant Directors to develop program and course communication plans for faculty, students, and project partners. Communicate effectively with faculty, students and external project partners through email and other channels. Develop and execute program and course survey using Qualtrics for continuous improvement data.

Departmental Organization and Administration – 20%

    Assist Director of Experiential Learning in organizing departmental documents, resources, presentations, and data. Assist in other course-related administrative support, including serving as a backup for invoice processing as needed. Assist team members schedule meetings and events.

Other – 10%

    Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree strongly desired.
  • Five years of clerical/administrative or other related experience required.
  • At least two years of experience in aspects of academic program administration or program/project administration in the areas of marketing, finance, business, graduate level higher education, or other related experience desired.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula
  • Experience developing international logistics for groups
  • Microsoft office skills: PowerPoint, Excel, Teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years’ experience in domestic and international logistics.
  • Evidence of risk awareness/management.
  • 2 or more years’ experience in partnership management.
  • Experience developing and executing program surveys.
  • Maintaining a fluency in Spanish or another language would be highly valued but not required.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Interest in current business topics: business analytics, CSR, entrepreneurship, the business of health care, leadership, risk management, and/or technology
  • Interest in experiential learning concepts and practices
  • Program and project management, self-starter mindset, and ability to work through ambiguity and take initiative
  • Able to handle risk management and logistical challenges in an international travel program
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a varied constituency including faculty, staff in multiple departments, students, entrepreneurs, executives, and industry representatives
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized
  • Knowledge of and proficiency in the use of MS Office Suite software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for corresponding, analysis, information storage, and presentation
  • Strong meeting planning and logistics management skills
  • As a representative of the School, presents a professional image
  • Cross-cultural competence and experience of working in a multi-cultural environment
  • Interest in emerging business trends

JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Starting Salary Range: $20.02 - $27.51/hr (commensurate with experience)
Employee group: Full Time
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30-5pm plus evenings and weekends as needed to accommodate student programming.

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
