    Suffolk is excited to announce a career opportunity! This position assumes the main responsibility for supporting the Sawyer Business School’s First-year Experience (FYE) and Retention Initiative by working closely with the undergraduate programs team as well as with the DSS office. The purpose of this position would focus on improving the educational and academic experience while serving as a collaborator with relevant extracurricular activities offered by the School and as a liaison for other social elements designed, implemented, and managed by various offices at the university level.

    Primary/Principal Responsibilities:

    25% Curriculum:

    1. Assist faculty co-coordinators in curriculum design, implementation, and assessment. A primary focus of assessment is the value-added to the retention KPI, in addition to other possible metrics.

    2. Support curriculum mapping between the identified first-year courses, within the first year, as well as connections with third-semester courses.

    3. Research various modalities and media for course content, supporting continuous innovation of course design and implementation, given current teaching and learning trends.

    4. Build LMS super shells that aggregate all co-coordinator-created and identified content, into an exciting, positive, and productive learning experience.

    5. Communicate with FYE course instructors and TA's on first-year students "in the moment." An example is maintaining the "Young Professional Experience" microsite using the university-supported platform.

    6. Design, implementation, and assessment of faculty training workshops, intra-semester debrief meetings and end-of-semester faculty feedback.

    7. Accumulate and summarize faculty evaluations, as well as intra-semester and post-course student surveys.

    8. Analyze the results of course assessment in support of an annual report evaluating performance to established KPI's. Compile and report actions and analyses to the Dean's Office, as a member therein.

    15% Co-Curricular:

    1. Identify and coordinate "Alumni Case Spotlights" where alumni business owners serve as a living case to demonstrate the case analysis model used as key deliverables in executive presentations. This provides students with a lived experience of case analysis and presentations, as well as a connection with alumni.

    2. Design and implement intersectional mini-case competitions between various sections of the first-semester courses and the second-semester courses.

    3. Assess results of programming to develop a business case competition league (intramural format) and university team (to compete around the country/world).

    15% Extra-Curricular:

    1. Design, implement and assess a scavenger hunt, connecting first-year students with the City of Boston, as well as upperclassmen at the university.

    2. Develop a peer mentoring program to align first-year students with seniors, and manage the program.

    3. Partner with the First-Year faculty coordinators to create and support a Freshman Learning Community, and connect it with the honor societies and student clubs at the School to enrich the freshmen’s engagement with the School.

    10% Advising:

    1. Coordinate and promote faculty-led advising to first-year students for full-time members of the first-year team.

    2. Support the First-Year faculty coordinators to help implement the First-year Advisor's initiative so that the first-year students can interact closely with a select group of SBS faculty.

    15% Administration:

    1. Support the First-Year faculty coordinators in faculty staffing for all the FYE courses, as well as communicating with faculty and admin to build schedules with the registrar's office.

    2. Serve as a key player in the Dean's Office and key communicator of the first-year faculty coordinators.

    3. Support the First-Year faculty coordinators in open houses and showcases with a separate booth supporting the first-year experience.

    4. Help plan and organize the end of first-year celebration event to recognize and showcase freshmen achievements.

    5. Identify opportunities to connect the academic and social experiences that are expected to serve as a foundation for the "total student."

    20% UG Programs Support:

    1. Provide needed support and assistance for any activities and initiatives organized by the School’s Undergraduate Programs leadership team including the Assistant Dean and the Director.

    2. Be an active player and member of the entire team with the passion and goal to help students succeed and prosper.

    Requirements/Qualifications: may include

    • Bachelor’s degree in business is a must and a Master’s degree is a plus
    • Experiences in a business school setting with an in-depth understanding of the Business School and University curricular requirements
    • Experiences with college freshman education and knowledge about retention challenges and strategies
    • Deep knowledge about Gen Z learning styles and digital education trends
    • Excellent written and oral communication, and teamwork skills
    • Problem solving, data analysis and presentation, event planning and coordination
    • Personal attributes including but are not limited to caring, detail-oriented, patient, thoughtful, proactive, and willing to take initiatives and to take on new challenges
    • Technological/Software skills required: Basic website design skills, MS Office, Tableau, Qualtrics, Informer, Colleague, EAB-Student Success Collaborative (SSC), Workday Student, and Blackboard.
