Position Summary:

The director of corporate relations will develop and lead the new Office of Corporate Relations in the College of Engineering. This position is an attractive leadership opportunity for an individual with a strong engineering or related field and business background and a track record of transforming the way industry and public universities work together. The successful candidate will exhibit and apply creativity, business affinity from idea to market, and the opportunity to bind commercial value propositions to the innovation of one of the world's top engineering colleges. A substantial understanding of engineering research and practice is necessary.

The director of corporate relations will set the strategic vision for College of Engineering corporate relations activities in areas that include sponsored research, employer partner programs, philanthropy and research services. This individual will initially manage all aspects of corporate relations in areas that include research, employer partner programs, philanthropy and service.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Master's degree required, field of study in Engineering or STEM-related fields with business background or MBA with strong Engineering background or equivalent strongly preferred. PhD with background in engineering or related STEM fields and with experience in corporate relations/business preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

A minimum of six years of experience in business development, research or corporate relations is required. At least 3 years of experience in Corporate Relations for Engineering Research or research in related STEM fields and Service including philanthropy aspects appropriate for a director level leadership position in the field is preferred.

Additional Information:

Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and be comfortable speaking in small groups or large forums.
Must be comfortable and interested in working with and influencing faculty, department chairs and Deans, C- and VP-level executives and administrators.
Excellent planning and follow through skills are also essential.
