Under the direction of the Director of F&A Reporting and Analysis the Accounting Analyst will substantially contribute to the development of the University’s Facilities and Administrative (F&A) rate proposal for grants and contracts. This position also includes supporting the accounting, review and analysis of recharge centers and understanding federal costing regulations and practices. Assisting in developing the Federal Fringe Benefit Rates for sponsored agreements, and related audits under OMB’s Uniform Guidance. Participating in year-end sponsored activities and other duties and special projects as requested. Qualifications
Candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business and five (5) plus years of work experience in an accounting environment, preferably in higher education. Knowledge of grants and contracts is preferred. Job Specific Qualifications
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to structure significant amounts of data and input into consistent and logical equations to formulate objective and understandable conclusions.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and cost accounting standards.
  • Detail orientated individual with the ability to meet required deadlines.
  • Experience in developing spreadsheets and management of databases.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (e.g., Excel, Word)
  • Experience with PeopleSoft financials strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to identify and deal with sensitive issues and confidential information
  • Maintain proprietary software for preparation of F&A Overhead proposal.
  • Ensure the financial data submitted from various campus operations is in compliance with applicable federal regulations.
  • Interact with various university departments to gather, organize and review data to upload into the software which organizes the data per federal requirements.
  • Provide overall analysis to optimize F&A indirect cost recovery.
  • Prepare the annual Fringe Benefit Proposal for submission to the federal cognizant agency, including gathering and submitting accurate information and data.
  • Provide overall analysis to optimize the fringe benefit rate for the campus.
  • Institutional Service Center Recharge rate development and compliance monitoring.
  • Annually review, analyze the department worksheets and reconcile the recharge units activity recorded in the general ledger.
  • Meet with the recharge center manager/accountant to discuss the costs and assumptions that are used to develop the rates.
  • Work with independent auditors on Uniform Guidance Audit of federal sponsored awards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
