As the Assistant Vice President for Marketing Communications, you will be a senior leader within the Office of the Vice President for Communications, reporting to the Vice President for Communications.

 

You will work with teams to clarify an overarching university brand strategy and develop and execute initiatives to advance the brand and reputation. You will contribute to an integrated communications and marketing strategy and develop a creative, innovative, and high-functioning organization. Responsibilities:

    Manage and leverage the unifying brand identity of the university. Develop and implement reputation strategy and university-wide brand identity and marketing plans that align with our brand platform. Work with executive leaders and marketing professionals across campus on strategy for university priorities. Promote our missions through marketing strategies including a range of media and channels, including advertising, websites, digital, print, and social media. Lead our Executive Marketing Council and develop collaborative, strategic relationships with marketing professionals across the university. Provide expertise on marketing trends including those outside of higher education. Foster creativity and innovation in all university communications. Implement tracking methods and perform regular data analysis to monitor reputation, brand health and constituent opinion. Provide strategic consultation to departments on trends and marketing solutions. Consult with areas within our office to ensure coordinated communications and marketing plans. Lead teams by directly supervising the following individuals: Managing Director of Michigan Creative, Director of Michigan Photography and Michigan Media, and  Creative Director. Manage the budget and financial stability for the central marketing enterprise. Represent our office at events, conferences and associations.

 

Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in marketing, design, or a related field. 7+ years' experience in marketing, advertising or other creative production fields at a leadership level including applied experience in strategy development, long-range planning, innovation and aligning the marketing function to institutional priorities and mission. Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and how those ideals are supported by a marketing communications function. Experience developing and implementing multi-channel marketing campaigns including creative development.
