The Online and Distance Operations Manager at Falk College provides student support and operational program functions for the online and distance learning academic programs. Primary duties include: Providing administrative leadership, professional support, and services essential to the mission of Falk College by assisting the Falk College Online and Distance Education Director with course scheduling, program planning, implementation, and key student activities. Provides support for faculty search, hiring, and onboarding. Creates online distance learning campus courses using PeopleSoft and administers and distributes teaching evaluations. Will perform diverse, highly responsible, and complex functions that require independent recurring contact with administrators and executives including the Directors, Department Chairs, alumni, faculty, staff, students, and outside community partners and vendors. Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required with five (5) plus years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in higher education, as well as familiarity with Syracuse University policies and systems.
  • Must possess excellent professional skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Multi-task and maintain mature judgment, and confidentiality.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, and organizational skills and be familiar with electronic communications and database management.
  • The processes in this position require foresight and very close attention to detail and deadlines.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge and proven proficiency with class scheduling, PeopleSoft/Hyperion, Zoom, OnBase, MS Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access) and Adobe.
  • Knowledge of SU hiring for both adjunct/teaching faculty.
  • Excellent technology skills, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects under strict deadlines are required.
  • Course Administration
    • Knowledge of PeopleSoft along with experience in course scheduling and curriculum. Administration of departments class scheduling proficiency.
    • Ensuring adequate resources are assigned, enrollments are managed, and information is correctly entered and monitored.

  • Manage the admissions process within Falk College including reviewing applications with the Falk College Online and Distance Education Director, tracking applicant’s status, tracking admission decisions, etc.
    • Answering admission program related questions for admitted students prior to beginning their program.
  • Provide administrative and academic support to online and distance education student advising.
    • Answer questions about course sequencing, pre and co requisites, and addressing academic concerns.
    • Provide student services to online program students such as discussing special problems or issues to enable appropriate decisions to complete or withdraw from the program, change student status (PT/FT), or reduce course load.
    • Work as one of the team that assists students with locating appropriate paperwork and processing forms through Falk Student Services and the Registrar.
  • Student Orientation
    • Work with Falk College Online and Distance Education Director to plan orientations as part of new students to assist in their successful transition to the programs and impact student retention.
  • Faculty Search and Hiring
    • Update job postings based on courses to be offered and term dates.
    • Preparing jobs for to the Dean’s Office.
    • Schedule faculty interviews based on preliminary screening by the Falk College Online and Distance Education Director.
    • Complete adjunct hiring proposals and maintain faculty database.
  • Faculty Onboarding
    • Work with College, University and 2U faculty support to set up course sections and engage faculty in training.
  • Creates online distance learning campus courses using PeopleSoft and administers and distributes teaching evaluations.
