Job Summary

The Fire Science Lab Aids assist with teaching skills training for students in the Fire Academy to prepare them to take their state firefighter certification tests. They also proctor the national Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) provided by the Fire Science department.

The Fire Science Lab Aide is responsible for: Skills Training – Assist adjunct instructors in providing skills training for Fire Academy students; Safety – Lab Aids will act as safety officer on scene during scenarios; Certification – Lab Aids will assist in preparing students for state certification tests; Proctor – Lab Aids will proctor the National Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT).
