The West Virginia University (WVU) School of Public Health is seeking a Director to provide academic leadership for the newly acquired MS in Industrial Hygiene. This well-established program was recently transferred from our Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources (CEMR). The Director position comes with a tenure track faculty position (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) in the Department of Occupational and Environmental Health Sciences. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative teaching and research for a dynamic department in a diverse academic environment. The Department includes 9 full-time faculty members and offers an MPH and PhD in Public Health, as well as an Occupational Medicine Clinic and accredited residency programs in both Occupational Medicine and Public Health-General Preventive Medicine. Departmental faculty actively partner with many groups, including the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center, the West Virginia (WV) Clinical and Translational Science Institute, the WV Prevention Research Center, the WVU School of Medicine, WVU Statler CEMR, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Morgantown located next door on campus, WVU Safety and Health Extension, and the WV Bureau for Public Health.

We invite applicants with industrial hygiene expertise with a particular focus on hazards applicable to West Virginia and Appalachia. This position will primarily entail directorship of and teaching responsibilities within the MS degree in Industrial Hygiene, including maintenance of accreditation by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology and support from NIOSH through a recently-renewed multiprogram Training Project Grant which also supports the Occupational Medicine residency and graduate programs in Occupational Safety and Health Engineering.

The ideal candidate will also be expected to contribute to the Department’s other undergraduate, masters, doctoral and residency programs. Relevant research interests to the department could include environmental toxicology, analytical chemistry of environmental toxicants, occupational health, and industrial hygiene. The applicant is expected to develop and maintain an extramural research focus complementary to the department. Rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and scholarly activities.

Qualifications :

The candidate should possess a certification as an Industrial Hygienist by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene as well as a Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) with at least two years of Post-doctoral experience (or demonstrated work experience and job training). Candidates should supply a Statement of Teaching and Research, Curriculum Vitae, Cover Letter, and Full Contact Information for three or more references. Additionally, the search committee will review evidence of degree awarded (scanned copy of college transcripts, diploma, etc.). Candidates should have strong writing, public speaking and presentation skills and be fluent in English.
