The Department offers undergraduate majors in Agribusiness, Environmental Economics and Management, Agricultural and Applied Economics, and Hospitality and Food Industry Management. Outstanding graduate programs leading to a Masters of Agribusiness ( MAB ), M.S. or Ph.D. degree are supported by a large graduate faculty with diverse research programs and broad disciplinary expertise. Graduate studies and research programs are characterized by strong interdepartmental and interdisciplinary ties. The Department hosts a large Extension program focused on applied research and outreach activities to address the needs of farmers, Agribusiness, the public in Georgia, and worldwide. This position is highly engaged with the various commodity groups and other stakeholders of departmental programs. A Ph.D. in Agricultural, Resource/Environmental, or any other related field of Economics Position Summary
The successful candidate will be expected to lead and administer high-quality teaching, research, and extension programs, and play a proactive role in increasing extramural support for these programs. Specific responsibilities include faculty recruitment, management and leadership, student recruitment, faculty performance evaluations, coordinating promotion and tenure procedures, program planning and implementation, and managing the budget and physical facilities including computer laboratories and other instructional assets. The Department Head is also expected to work effectively with, and represent the faculty to university and agency administrators, state and federal officials, and industry clientele.
