The College of Lake County is looking for qualified Fire Science Technology Lab Specialists. The lab specialist will provide technical assistance in basic skills for Fire Basic Operations ( FBO ) classes, and they will assist students in mastery of basic firefighter skills, knowledge, and abilities.

• A minimum of 5 years documented fire service experience.
• Firefighter III OR Advance Firefighter Certification by the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal.
• Fire Instructor I Certification by the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal.
• Individuals selected for this position will complete (and maintain) the required compliance training as determined by the College of Lake County.
• Individuals selected are required to attend the College of Lake County Core training presentation.
• Must be student orientated and supportive of transferring firefighting skills.

Desired Qualifications

• Fire Instructor I Certification by the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal
• Attained the rank of Battalion Chief or equivalent.
• Promotion to rank of fire department lieutenant or above, or assignment to the training division of a fire department.
• Preference will be given to ensure the three typical fire department platoon schedules are balanced.
• Hold a minimum of a Class “B” Illinois driver’s license (or equivalent).

This is a part-time flex position and employment shall be on an at-will basis, the duration of which shall be in accordance with the needs of the College of Lake County.
Part-time flex employees are not eligible to participate in any benefits program at the College, including tuition reimbursement, tuition waiver, health insurance or paid time off. Pay Rate $25/HR.
