The University of Lynchburg, a private coeducational liberal arts university, located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in central Virginia is accepting applications for a full time Chief of Safety & Security. Responsibilities include planning, directing, and evaluating all activities of the department. Additional duties include hiring, training, and supervising staff. The Chief of Campus Safety & Security also manages the departmental budget and tracks crime statistics to ensure compliance with university, state, and federal reporting responsibilities. The Chief of Campus Safety & Security is actively engaged with the campus and local community, and works collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and other internal and external constituents to promote a safe and secure environment. The Chief of Campus Safety & Security manages and administers safety programming, facility safety, emergency preparedness, and critical incident management.
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree is required, master’s degree is preferred, in criminal justice, emergency management, and/or 10 years in a related field with demonstrated leadership in safety/security, including increasing levels and scope of responsibilities, supervisory experience, and emergency management experience. The selected candidate must successfully pass a background check that is satisfactory to the University.
