The Department of Advanced Academic Programs seeks an Associate Director for Student Conduct (Student Relations Officer) who will be responsible for managing and addressing all referrals and allegations of violations of the Student Code of Conduct. The Associate Director will oversee student conduct investigations, specifically addressing academic dishonesty cases, for all AAP students and will orchestrate the day-to-day oversight of student conduct, which includes training faculty and staff on university policies, student rights and responsibilities, and student conduct processes. This role will also develop policies and procedures that reflect best practices from higher education student conduct organizations.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the Academic Integrity Officer for student conduct issues and violations and collaborate with the JHU Office of Student Conduct to address other student conduct matters.
  • Provide guidance to AAP faculty, staff, and leadership to ensure compliance with division, school, and University policies.
  • Assist in development of policy and procedure and advise on investigations and adjudications of policy violations. Upon completion of conduct hearings, resolve any additional disciplinary consequences and/or support needs for the student(s).
  • Assist the Director with developing student conduct training and ensure workshops for faculty, staff, and students are effectively planned and evaluated.
  • Maintain all records related to the adjudication process.
  • Collaborate with other JHU discipline hearing administrators to stay abreast of current departmental issues and developments.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities related to student discipline.
  • Collaborate in the management of services pertaining to the student experience and accommodations.
  • Serve on committees as appropriate, both at the DC location and the Homewood campus.
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

    Bachelor’s degree required. Five years of professional experience in Higher Education/Student Affairs with key responsibilities centering on student conduct.

Preferred Qualifications:

    Master’s Degree preferred. Experience working with online and non-traditional students, or similarly specialized setting in higher education. Demonstrated ability to lead process change and build partnerships with campus partners. Experience with the implementation of procedures to streamline documentation submission and records maintenance for conduct-related materials.
  • Previous investigation and interviewing experience.

    Excellent interpersonal skills with a highly collaborative and communicative style. Knowledge and understanding of current and emerging trends relating to student success and best practices in academic and non-academic student conduct. Ability to manage through crises and stressful situations with discretion and sensitivity. A demonstrated commitment to, and experience in, advancing diversity, equity, and inclusivity. Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
