The Lynch School of Education and Human Development at Boston College seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Educational Policy in the department of Educational Leadership and Higher Education. We seek a scholar of education policy broadly defined with expertise in two or more of the following areas: the role of policy in K-12 education (e.g., policymaking, education law, finance, policy implementation), critical policy analysis and evaluation, local, state and federal policies that affect the education system from early childhood to post-secondary education, the influence of social contexts on the policy process, international comparative educational policy, and policy research about social issues such as inequality, systemic racism and other structural forms of oppression.
The faculty member will be expected to contribute to our expanded policy focus in the new online Master’s program in Educational Leadership and Policy, as well as teach other graduate and undergraduate courses on campus. This person will develop and teach education policy courses such as Foundations of Educational Policy, Educational Policy Analysis, Educational Policy in Practice, Higher Education Law and Education Reform. As a small department, we work collaboratively across programs and seek a colleague to contribute to our shared goal of improving education across the lifespan from early childhood to postsecondary education.
In line with the Lynch School of Education and Human Development’s mission, we seek an education policy scholar whose research is oriented toward social justice and/or formative education. Priority will be given to applicants who have established or are establishing an active program of research, who have an interest in and ability to communicate their work to broader publics as well as among scholarly peers, and whose work will contribute to innovation across the Lynch School. This person should have earned a doctoral degree (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D.) by June 1, 2022.
