Position Summary:

The assistant director directs the operational, financial, and personnel activities of the ERP Application Support group whose mission is to provide development and support services to support the University of Wisconsin-Madison and University of Wisconsin System. The primary customer for these services is the UW System Service Center. Other customers include the UW System SFS Operations, and UW-Madison's Division of Enrollment Management. The A/D works closely with UW-Madison, UW System executives, and EBS management to prioritize the work of the team.

The A/D supervises a staff of tech leads, developers, and migration and batch specialists. The group consists of teams which provide PeopleSoft technical architecture services, PeopleSoft HCM testing services, and PeopleSoft migration, moves and batch services (using Phire and Tivoli). The Assistant Director is responsible for developing and maintaining a high-performance team of dedicated professionals with the skills, drive, and capacity necessary to deliver exemplary service. The ability to recruit recent graduates and experienced professionals as employees and to use contract consultants when needed is necessary.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Qualifications Required:
1.Experience with team building and with collaboration strategies.
2.Experience with software development methodologies and techniques (e.g. waterfall, agile) and their use for building and enhancing software systems.
3.Experience establishing and maintaining effective collaborative working relationships with stakeholders, customers, staff, and vendors.
4.Experience with effective methods of written and oral communication, meeting leadership and facilitation, and formal presentations.

Preferred:
1.Knowledge of the principles of organization, administration, and management.
2.Experience in workforce planning or project staffing.
3.Knowledge of the techniques and theory for supervision of professional technical staff.
4.Knowledge of project management, project estimation, work plan preparation, and project change control.
5.Knowledge of basic accounting and financial management tools and methods.
6.Knowledge of information technology tools, practices, and methodologies.

The candidate selected for this position will initially work remotely subject to an approved telecommuting agreement. In the future, this position will likely be a combination of onsite and remote work in accordance with policy and subject to approval. Candidate may, on occasion, be required to report to campus due to operational needs for meetings, trainings, or other activities.Remote work requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on an employer provided computer.
