Coordinates activities associated with Student Affairs events, Orientation and Transitions programming, other assigned programs and assists administrator as needed.
Advises students and/or parents.
Processes, reviews, and/or evaluates student documents.
Conducts student interviews.
Assesses student progress/needs and tutors students.
Advises faculty and staff as necessary and coordinates activities.
Provides training for assigned participants/students/clients.
Develops, manages, and/or interprets related files (e.g., payroll, documents, reports, forms).
Maintains related supplies, equipment, and instructional materials.
Develops and maintains related database and enters data as necessary.
Serves as advisor and provides guidance and direction for groups.
Assist in the oversight of transitional programs for the Office of Events.
Orientation and Transitions including all Orientations and related student leadership groups such as SWOT .
Assist with all orientation and transitions programming.
Provide excellent customer service to students, parents, guests, staff, faculty and community partners.
Develop the Successful Warhawk Orientation & Transition ( SWOT ) Team and the leadership group, SWOT Force, including regular on-campus meetings and occasional participation in regional training conferences.
Assist in developing the ambassador leadership team, Orange Jacket Society, other student leadership teams as assigned and oversee its training.
Support the planning and logistics of the student orientation program, extended orientation and Flight Week.
Coordinate office operations.
Manage student and paraprofessional staff.
Coordinate special projects as needed, and as related to the Office of Events, Orientation and Transitions, including the Martin Luther King Legacy Breakfast and featured cultural events such as Hispanic Heritage Month, Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, and others.
Coordinate and support Student Affairs events as assigned in conjunction with CAB, SGA, and other student leadership groups.
Develop new programmatic initiatives in conjunction with other units on campus.
Collaborate with university marketing to create effective marketing and PR for all orientation programs on all advertising mediums (social media and college websites, flyers, etc.).
Serve on university committees in areas that focus on student development and success.
Collaborate with other AUM Divisions and Office/Departments on transitions programming.
Assist the Dean of Students or his designee with selection, training and supervision of Orientation Leaders.
Manage official office communication with new students.
Prepare reports and content for presentations, workshops, publications and website.
Collaborate with Admissions and Enrollment Management stakeholders to establish and utilize communication and data flows to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of student communication and data tracking.
Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of applicable University practices and procedures
Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access
Knowledge of the transition needs of first-year and transfer students
Ability to speak in public and make presentations
Ability to supervise
Written communication skills
Ability to respond to multiple competing demands
Ability to use a computer and relevant software applications
Ability to work with individuals from various backgrounds
Ability to effectively use technology
Ability to input data into a CRM and manage students registration and check-in in the orientation registration system
Ability to process, review, and evaluate student documents
Ability to conduct student interviews
Ability to provide training for participants, students, and/or clients Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Business, or related field and two (2) years of experience in work related to student services is required. At least one (1) year of direct experience with orientation and transition programs is desirable. Experience working in higher education is preferred.
The successful candidate must be a passionate and energetic, self-motivated team player with sound judgment, management and problem-solving skills, flexibility and the ability to manage multiple projects.
