The Director directs the Office of Student Activities ( OSA ) on activities related to the 300+ recognized student organizations (RSO’s) including the Student Association (SA) and the student programming board, University Union (UU). Responsible for the overall management of all non-Greek RSO’s. Provides leadership to establish and maintain inclusive organizations that provide social activities, programs, and events geared to enhance the student’s education and fulfil their need to be engaged in the community. Qualifications
Master’s Degree in student administration, counseling, or related field; 5-10 years experience in higher education preferred or equivalent work experience in a university setting. Job Specific Qualifications
Executive hours with some evenings and weekends.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office products. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are essential.

Demonstrated ability to prioritize and deal with multiple demands.

Must have good communication skills and ability to interact with a diverse group of constituents.

Higher education experience preferred and experience with Division of Student Affairs plus. Responsibilities
Office Management:
Provide oversight and guidance for financial and human resource processes in the Office of Student Activities.
Supervise 2 Associate Directors, an office coordinator, graduate students, practicum intern students.

Student Engagement:
Develop, implement and assess a program for assessing student learning outcomes associated with training and leadership activities of the Office of Student Activities.
Implementation and coordination of the Student Engagement portion of the Office of Student Activities (e.g. policies, procedures, budgets, and programming).
Implement assessment and research initiatives for Student Engagement.
Directly oversee the implementation of Campus Labs (student organization data management system) which includes creating a virtual Office of Student Activities with on-line registration, form submissions, and available information on every recognized student organization.

University Student Events:
Directly responsible for the implementation of major Student Engagement events (i.e. Juice Jam, Involvement Fair, Homecoming, 44 Stars of Excellence Gala and Celebration, Orange After Dark).
Directly responsible for the direction and leadership of the Student Leadership Institute, including the collaboration of professionals throughout the division.

Student Organization Oversight:
Develop and manage the recognized student organization handbook.
Develop, implement and assess a training program for recognized student organizations focused on self-governance, effective fiscal management, collaborative learning, ethical leadership, exploration of diversity, and service to the University community and ultimately, society at large.
Oversee and monitor the membership recruitment, education, initiation process, and officer elections of all recognized student organizations.
Develop and implement a marketing program strategy and student recognition strategy that promotes student engagement and student retention at Syracuse University.
Advise and serve as a consultant to the Student Association and all cabinets within the SU student government.
Oversee all recognized student organization recognition procedure, event planning process, budget allocations and expenditures of funds.
Lead and implement an all encompassing officer training program for all officers of recognized student organizations reviewing and enforcing the policies and procedures that will assist in the success of those organizations.

Direct and implement an advisor training to assist those faculty/staff advisors.

Oversee the New Student Organization Recognition Process.
