Job Description Summary
The Economics Camp assistant is responsible assisting the Economics Summer Camp Coordinator with virtual classroom related activities. The camp assistant is responsible for interfacing with the presenters and the student enrollees during the conduct of the summer camp using a virtual Prince George’s Community College format and modality. The camp assistant is responsible for participating in related activities. Assisting faculty host virtual workshops, and assisting with administrative needs of the camp.

- High School Student in good standing with their respective school.
- Under age 18 with work permit.
- Interest in financial systems to include banks, federal reserve, fiscal policies, and monetary policies.

- Assist by interfacing with youth and presenters to help outcomes.
- Assist with communicating course expectations that engage high school students to engage in the topic of Economics.
- Assist with overseeing student activities and remain current in youth perspectives in economics.
- Assist with administering assessment tools that monitor student progress and provide timely feedback.
- Support the advocacy initiative for the summer camp by becoming familiar with Economic Study, and related data.
- Assist the coordinator in coaching the students on the dynamics of the summer camp schedule and its desired outcome.
- Assist with providing student support by assisting with hosted activities like “open mic” sessions during summer camp virtual “chat and chew” lunch hours.
- Refer students to appropriate support resources.
- Maintain effective communication with the summer camp team to include the PGCC community by utilizing PGCC communication technology by utilizing PGCC email regularly & exclusively (where allowable).
- Follow department procedures to include required training such as the prevention of child abuse, email, Blackboard, and Q grade policy.
- Collaborate with all key departmental staff and resources and attend all required summer camp meetings.
- Submit camp records to designated faculty on time, participate in departmental summer camp evaluation process, and participate in departmental summer camp assessment.
- Perform all other duties as directed by the Designated Faculty, Chair, Dean, or designee.
Job Requirements
- Must be able to work Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. July 5, 2021 – July 23, 2021.
- Have access to reliable computers and internet that interfaces with Zoom.
- Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
- As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
