The SCHOOL OF CHEMISTRY AND BIOCHEMISTRY of the GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY invites applications for a 12-month, permanent, non-tenure track faculty position (academic professional track) to take the lead role in directing our first-year chemistry laboratory program, lecture in both first-year chemistry and either analytical chemistry or biochemistry undergraduate courses, and serve as part of the department’s undergraduate advisement team.

The successful applicant will have lead responsibility for the content, management, and supervision of the laboratory components of our first-year laboratory courses (CHEM 1310, 1211K and 1212K). These courses have a combined enrollment of ~2,000 each year. The position will work with our director of first-year chemistry, and other faculty, to ensure that the laboratory and lecture components of the first-year courses provide a coherent and productive student experience, and operate efficiently. Additionally, the position will be expected to provide lecture instruction (9 credit hours total per year) spread over first-year chemistry courses and undergraduate courses in analytical chemistry or biochemistry, with at least 3 credit hours in analytical or biochemistry each year, depending on the candidate’s expertise and interests. The position will also be expected to provide academic advising to ~40-50 of our ~400 undergraduate majors.

The position starts on October 1st, 2021, or soon thereafter. A Ph.D. in chemistry or biochemistry with relevant interest and experience is required. A cover letter, CV, and statement of teaching philosophy should be submitted via our Careers web site at https://tinyurl.com/5856dyt5. Three academic letters of recommendation should be sent by your referees to angus.wilkinson@chemistry.gatech.edu with the subject line “CHEM AP position, CANDIDATES LAST NAME”

The application review will begin on August 14th 2021, and continue until the position is filled. Georgia Tech is an equal education/employment opportunity institution.
