Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) is seeking an Admissions
Officer to join its Admissions department. The primary mission for
Admissions is to ensure the enrollment goals of the college by
bringing in new degree program students. These goals are achieved
through recruitment and outreach, application review by faculty and
staff, and engagement with admitted students. We welcome applicants

In collaboration with the admissions team, the Admissions Officer
will contribute to all aspects of RISD’s admissions process.
Specifically, the Admissions Officer is responsible for traveling
to high schools, portfolio days, and other relevant events to
articulate RISD’s offerings, recruiting prospective applicants, and
building relationships with key influencers. The Admissions Officer
will review and evaluate applications for admission to the College
and participate in admissions committee meetings. In addition, the
Admission Officer will participate in and contribute to the
development and delivery of yield programming, including but not
limited to Admitted Students Day and various housing, student,
career, and international student webinars.

- Coordinate the schedule for and participate in the planning and
development of recruitment activities such as conducting regular
information programs on and off-campus. Participate in and recruit
alumni volunteers for Portfolio Days. Present during high school
visits and evaluate artwork to support prospective student
- Support areas of auxiliary responsibility, which may include,
but are not limited to, minority recruitment initiatives, student
ambassador program development, digital media/marketing outreach,
and/or event coordination.
- Conduct evaluations of applicant credentials, including visual
art submissions, attend Admissions Committee meetings, and act as a
voting member of the admissions committee in the decision
- Serve as a knowledgeable ambassador for RISD while counseling
prospective students, families, and other interested parties
regarding undergraduate and graduate degree programs and admission
- Initiate, cultivate, and manage relationships with applicants,
parents, counselors, and teachers concerning RISD and the RISD
- B.F.A., B.A. in Studio Art preferred, or an equivalent
combination of education and experience
- Ability to evaluate visual artwork
- Demonstrated experience with public speaking
- Computer skills including MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite,
Keynote, and/or PowerPoint a plus
- Demonstrated experience working independently and effectively
as a member of an ethnically and culturally diverse team and
- Valid driver's license and passport required
35 hours/week; 12 months/year
Some evenings and weekends required throughout the year.
