Assistant Director, Center for Social Concerns and Global Exploration

Gannon University, a diocesan Catholic university, invites applications for the position of Assistant Director in the Center for Social Concerns and Global Exploration. The Assistant Director of the Center for Social Concerns and Global Exploration joins a dynamic team seeking to engage and accompany students as they explore and discover their values, passions, and purpose, and as they explore the world around them through service and cultural exploration.
 
The Assistant Director will grow and deepen student and employee engagement through the planning, implementation, and assessment of programs including, but not limited to, the Transforming Residents Abroad Via Engaged Learning (TRAVEL) Program and the Alternative Break Service Trip (ABST) Program. The Assistant Director will lead trip research, development and planning, program advising, fundraising, budget management, and execution of the TRAVEL Program. They will also oversee the development and execution of a comprehensive employee accompanier/facilitator training, provide leadership and support in the development and execution of student participant and student leader experiences, and cultivate and support local and global partnerships. This position will also create, execute, and support other initiatives within the Center for Social Concerns and Global Exploration, Mission and Ministry, and Student Experience, including, but not limited to; interfaith formation, intercultural competence development, community engagement, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Spiritual development of students will be central to all dimensions of this work, including accompanying students on their personal exploration of values and worldview.
 
A Bachelor's Degree is required. A Master's Degree is preferred. Three years of experience in a higher education or community engagement setting is preferred. Required experience includes working with university/college student development programs, civic or community engagement, and/or working with student groups in a college or university setting. Must be able to demonstrate strong cultural competence, the ability to develop curriculum and facilitate training programs for employees and students, and excellent communication and relationship-building skills with diverse constituents including students, faculty, administrators, staff and community partners. Experience traveling within the United States and globally is highly preferred. Must be able and willing to travel with students, and attain the necessary documentation to travel including but not limited to a valid passport that allows entry to other countries from the United States. A valid driver's license is required.
