The Lab Director normally teaches 4 lab sections per semester. The Lab Director is also responsible for determining chemical and equipment needs for each experiment, seeing that items are ordered as needed, assisting in the production of lab manuals/handouts, managing hazardous waste, training and supervising TAs, and grading lab work for their own sections.

Job Duties:
-Teaches 4 lab sections per semester; prepares/assembles materials for 10-12 lab sections per semester.
-Hires, organizes, and supervises graduate and undergraduate teaching assistants.
-Maintains supplies and equipment used in the teaching labs; prepares lab manuals or handouts for students.
-Conducts TA and instructor meetings to ensure consistent student experience and grading policies across lab sections.
-Ensures proper clean-up, including disposal of any waste generated during the lab period
-Coordinates with lab instructors.
-Assists faculty with any updates to labs.
-Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
-BS degree in Chemistry or a closely related field
-Teaching or related experience

-Additional experience in teaching college science

Physical Demands:
Lab Directors will sometimes need to lift scientific equipment and/or carboys filled with chemistry solutions that weigh up to 40 pounds.
