Senior Coordinator of Annual Giving

Participating as a key member of the Annual Giving team, the Senior Coordinator of Annual Giving, reporting to the Director of Annual Giving, is responsible for soliciting financial support of The Simmons Fund, increasing unrestricted revenue, and increasing alumnx participation rates through the strategic development and execution of three core key programs: the Phonathon (student calling program), Senior Class Gift, and the Advancement Ambassadors (a student group dedicated to educating students about philanthropy and engaging students in the Office of Advancement events and activities).
The Senior Coordinator of Annual Giving will develop and execute comprehensive strategies and opportunities to increase fundraising results by educating students and alumnx about philanthropy using personal solicitations, multiple broad-based communications vehicles, and events.
The Senior Coordinator of Annual Giving will be organized, goal-oriented, highly motivated, deadline focused and will demonstrate an ability to motivate others. They will work closely with other teams within the division, including Alumnx Engagement, Capital Gifts, gift planning, and other institutional partnerships. In order to accomplish objectives, they will be able to strategize and execute independently, have excellent written and verbal communication skills; be outgoing, have a motivating personality and positive attitude; be at ease speaking with many people of various backgrounds, comfortable and confident asking people for money, and knowledgeable about activities/events occurring at the University.
Essential Functions
Student Phonathon
- Identify and develop the solicitation and segmentation strategy
for each semester in collaboration with the Director of Annual
Giving;
- Hire, train, supervise and evaluate 2-3 student managers, and a
staff of approximately 20 paid phone student callers ;
- Develop and implement an incentive program that motivates and
empowers students to reach highest level of achievement;
- Coordinate each semester's calling schedule and
payroll;
- Communicate important messages, themes, announcements, etc. to
the student callers, most often via email, newsletters,
etc.;
- Process pledges for accuracy and ensure that the pledge
receipts are mailed to donors daily;
- Run performance reports on a nightly basis to analyze program
results.
Senior Class Gift
- Set goals and identify strategy to successfully meet annual
participation goal for the undergraduate senior class;
- Recruit, train, manage, and motivate the Senior Class Gift
Committee;
- Act as advisor to the Committee in promoting the Campaign to
fellow classmates through all possible vehicles;
- Coordinate activities with campus partners in conjunction with
the Committee.
Relationship Management
- Independently manages a portfolio of approximately 50
prospects, in both regional and local territories to develop and
implement strategies to move prospects towards leadership level
Simmons Fund support at the GOLD level;
- Understands and makes a compelling case for unrestricted giving
as well as specific areas of support that meet Simmons's funding
needs and priorities;
- Effectively communicates results of contacts to appropriate
staff and conducts timely entries into the appropriate
Advancement's database and systems of record to document contacts
and other relevant information about prospects, donor and prospect
moves management in adherence to existing guidelines;
- Conducts on-going stewardship activities, in conjunction with
donor relations team, to further enhance the relationship between
the donor and Simmons;
- Actively and proactively participates in planning, analyzing
data and measuring results of their efforts.
Advancement Ambassadors
- Develop educational and engagement strategy for each semester,
in partnership with the Director of Annual giving and the Office of
Alumnx and Volunteer engagement;
- Recruit, train, educate and motivate student volunteer group to
act as a bridge between campus and alumnx community;
- Identify existing opportunities, both within Advancement and
leveraging cross-campus partnerships, for student volunteers to
interact with alumnx during events;
- Collaborate with on campus student groups to provide
opportunities for students to interface with the alumnx
community.
Other duties
- Coordinate the Faculty/Staff payroll deduction program and
stewardship in coordination with the Payroll & Benefits Office
and the Office of Advancement Services;
- Serve as backup for administrative duties including, but not
limited to, managing the Simmons Fund email inbox, the Advancement
800 line, and monthly anniversary emails.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience in
development work (as a student worker in an Office of
Advancement/Development while completing a bachelor's;
- Minimum one year of professional experience in development work
strongly preferred.
Required Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel and
PowerPoint);
- Experience with Raiser's Edge a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Exceptional planning and organizational skills;
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work
effectively in a deadline-driven, team environment;
- Ideal candidate will be positive, extremely service-oriented,
and will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment that requires
building strong working relationships across the
division.
Work Schedule
This is a 40-hour campus based position. Occasional night or weekend work may be required. Rare travel may be required.
