Job Description:

The Director is responsible for administering programs and services within the newly designed Theodore and Cynthia Berenson Center for Writing, Mathematics and Presentation Excellence. The Director will provide an innovative collaborative and professional environment to strengthen students' skills within the context of supporting assignments, coursework and learning goals.  

Job Duties:

  • Design, implement, assess, and manage the day-to-day operation and budget of all programs and services within the Center;
  • Direct supervision of the Directors of the Berenson Writing and Math Center and professional & peer tutors;
  • Recruit and train professional and academic discipline-specific peer tutors;
  • Responsible for utilizing a web-based program to develop and maintain the schedule of all professional and peer tutoring hours as well as faculty office hours to be held in the Center;
  • Serve as liaison with faculty, School Deans, Program Coordinators and Academic support staff to direct students to appropriate support services;
  • Providing direct support to students as they navigate the services within the Center;
  • Collaborating with various campus partners to analyze data to determine areas of need for additional support;
  • Track predetermined data points and report out to appropriate parties;
  • Develop and implement outreach efforts to promote the use of the Center;
  • Teach one course per academic year;
  • Work schedule will include some evening and weekend hours;
  • Assist with Admissions Open Houses, Accepted Student Days and New Student Orientation;
  • Participate in committees and work teams as needed;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree required within an academic discipline, student support, or related field;
  • 5-7 years experience working in a college environment overseeing learning support programs for a diverse population;
  • Undergraduate teaching experience preferred;
  • Candidates must also have a demonstrated passion for providing transformational learning experiences as well as working with a diverse population of undergraduates at varying stages of academic readiness;
  • Experience and expertise with course management systems and digital technology.
