 The Faculty of Education at Leuphana University of Lüneburg invites applications for the following junior professorship with tenure track, funded by the “Joint Federal Government-Länder Tenure-Track Programme:

Contemporary art history, aesthetic practice
(W1 With Tenure Track LEADing to w2)

The focus of your internationally visible research is in the field of art studies with a focus on contemporary art in the field of tension between art studies, aesthetic practice and mediation. You create an awareness of problems for the social and historical dimension of art and aesthetic practices, e.g. in the field of collaborative practice, participatory art, artistic research, artistic knowledge, curatorial action, artistic-experimental education or aesthetics of reparative and care. At the same time, qualify students for professions at the intersection of art and education, especially teacher education, and meet the needs of school teaching in the subject of art, especially for primary and secondary level I, and prospectively for secondary level II (cf. https://www.nibis.de/kunst_4103).

You promote the professional and constructive discourse with leading, internationally renowned universities and create an inspiring and engaging research and teaching-learning environment. You share the idea of the university as an educational community and take advantage of the many opportunities for academic collaboration throughout the university. You have a very good knowledge of German and English and are willing to teach courses in German and English.

The professorship is organizationally assigned to the Faculty of Education.

The requirements for employment (W1) are otherwise based on § 30 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG): a completed university degree in art history, fine arts, art education or other artistic fields; a special aptitude for independent academic work, demonstrated by an above-average doctorate in art studies, as a PdD in practice, art education or other art-related disciplines; pedagogical-didactic aptitude in subject-related teaching.

In addition, you have the following qualifications: demonstrable experience in designing, soliciting or conducting research projects; elevant publications in national and international recognized journals; an own aesthetic practice and a contribution to diversity are desirable.

The junior professorship will be filled in accordance with pay grade W1 and is initially limited to a period of three years. The position will be extended for an additional three years, subject to a positive academic evaluation (in accordance with the guidelines for the mid-term evaluation of junior professors (https://www.leuphana.de/fileadmin/user_upload/newspool/stellenausschreibungen/professuren/Richtlinie_zur_Zwischenevaluation_von_JPs_Leuphana.pdf) of Leuphana University of Lüneburg).
