MINIMUM PAY RATE: $56,827 annually

POSITION SUMMARY
This position responsible for supporting the day-to-day management and operations of the Illinois Small Business Development Center at Joliet Junior College. The position will also provide relevant counseling and training to prospective and emerging entrepreneurs in all aspects of market feasibility, business development, and operations management. Acute attention is given to financial management and access to capital. New initiatives and programs are developed to better serve business development needs of clients.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide direct business advice and training to entrepreneurs and small business owners
2. Conduct and prepare financial analyses for small businesses, including financial projections
3. Manage information regarding lending requirements to advise clients regarding options
4. Help plan and coordinate programs and services consistent with the goals and objectives of the Illinois Small Business Development Center
5. Conduct needs assessments of businesses; re-evaluate strategic and log-term planning’ conceptualize market driven SBDC vision.
6. Develop workshop topics, organize and facilitate workshops, and identify subject matter experts
7. Manage marketing, outreach and recruitment for events and training sessions
8. Represent the SBDC at trade shows and access to capital events through networking, presentations, and public speaking
9. Provide leadership for a multi-diversified staff, including part-time instructors; delegate responsibility from a team orientation.
10. Administer yearly budgets; write grant proposals, maintain fiscal oversight; prepare all required reports, and pursue fundraising opportunities for the SBDC .
11. Design the overall marketing and community education strategy to promote the SBDC vision.
12. Perform outreach and maintains collaborative relationships with local financial institutions, relevant service providers, the local business community and other stakeholders in the community.
13. Represent the College and serve as its liaison.
14. Assume other duties as may be assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related area.
2. Five (5) years’ experience in small business management or business consulting experience.
3. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Good platform and instructional skills.
4. Knowledge of business consultation skills, manufacturing assessment, business plan development, loan packaging, technology transfer, manufacturing and management best policies, training, computer searches, market research, and referral agent services.
5. Ability to work well with clients and business customers; must be entrepreneurial, bottom line performance driven, customer focused, and learner centered; able to “sell” and negotiate to achieve mutual goals.
6. Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related area.
2. Experience in writing business plans and/or marketing plans.
3. Small business owner.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Normal office physical demands.
2. Evening and/or weekends commensurate with demand.
3. Access to transportation for local travel required.
4. Ability to travel between campus locations and to and from community events.

WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Duties are performed indoors in the usual office environment.
