POSITION SUMMARY:

The Division of Art and Design at Indiana Wesleyan University seeks a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor of Design to teach in a Christ-centered, active, and vibrant undergraduate design program and to join an intensely passionate cohort of design educators who believe in social impact design and fostering tomorrow’s design leaders.

The practice of design at Indiana Wesleyan University equips students to become conscientious designers who have a robust skillset to impact the greater world. Known for its outstanding program, the IWU Art + Design Division is committed to actively influencing the discourse on the frontiers of new design thinking and design pedagogy. The design program offers instruction in areas of visual communication, user experience design, digital design, print-based design, social impact design, design process, and research, rhetorics, semiotics and identity, and type and image.   The successful candidate will combine teaching with scholarly endeavors. Applicants should show evidence of personal faith in Jesus Christ, comfort with the Wesleyan- Arminian theology, and commitment to liberal learning and the integration of Christian faith and learning. Applicants with diverse ethnic, racial, and gender perspectives are especially encouraged to apply.   Pending funding, start date will be Fall 2021.   EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Candidates must have a terminal degree, preferably an MFA or MDES in the field of visual communication design, user experience design, digital design, or a related design field.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The division seeks an outstanding and dynamic designer with a combination of studio skills focused on method and theory based approaches, along with a deep commitment to teaching and advising undergraduate students in design. Applicants must have the ability and experience to teach all levels of undergraduate design courses.
