Events Administrator


Primary Function

The individual in this position is responsible for developing and maintaining overall event coordination of assigned events, parking department oversight, and some event marketing. This includes supervising and scheduling a large number of part-time parking, event and security. Excellent judgment must be used for all decisions made by this individual. They are responsible for all physical arrangements incidental to their assigned public functions held at the Convocation Center and Huskie Stadium. He/she will perform their duties with minimal supervision.
Duties and Responsibilities (generally)

This position reports to the Director of Events Management (Sr. Event Administrator – Manager), in addition to working directly with 2-3 event managers and 1-2 graduate assistants at the Convocation Center.

This individual conducts their duties with minimal supervision from the Director of Event Management. This individual supervises assigned Extra Help, and Student employees as required.
Minimum Required Qualifications for this position

1. Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Business Administration, Student Affairs, or a closely related field.
2. A total of one (1) year (12 months) professional work experience in Event Planning, Conference Management, Public Relations, Communication, Marketing, or any other related field.
3. Based on position requirements, additional education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position, may be required.

This individual must have excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal and organizational skills with a high emphasis on the interpretation of general business procedures. The ability to solve practical problems, calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, proportions, and percentages, are attributes this individual must possess.
In addition, this individual must be well organized, detail-oriented, and able to effectively communicate with other members of the Convocation Center staff, as well as clients and the general public. This individual must have the demonstrated ability to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms, as well as occasionally handle, feel, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10-25 pounds. Demonstrated vision ability includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus also required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud, and this individual will have occasional exposure to driving utility vehicles and outside weather conditions. This individual must have a flexible work schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. This individual must have a valid driver’s license and able to drive utility vehicles such as golf carts and Kubota’s.
