The Purdue University Department of Biological Sciences is searching for Lecturers or Senior Lecturers; rank and salary will be commensurate with experience.   These positions are full-time, academic year, renewable appointments, beginning in August 2021.

Our teaching needs include:  introductory biology lecture and lab course for non-majors; introductory lab course for 1st year majors; microbiology lecture course for non-majors; advanced microbiology lab for majors; genetics courses for upper level majors (Eukaryotic Genetics and Human Genetics); cell biology and physiology lecture courses for non-majors; 5-week lab module courses for upper level majors.  Lecturer level faculty typically teach two courses or one large course each semester, matching the faculty member's area of expertise with teaching assignments.

For courses that have been taught routinely, previously used materials will be provided (syllabi; Powerpoint presentations, past exams and assignments).  Five-week lab module courses for upper-level majors are flexible in content.  Specific responsibilities include:  delivering course content; holding office hours and other meetings with students (face-to-face, via video conferencing platforms, etc.); grading assessments such as homework, papers, quizzes and tests; maintaining the course’s presence in Brightspace; supervising TAs for larger courses, and assigning and entering final grades by the University's deadlines.

Successful candidates will become part of a community committed to outstanding interdisciplinary undergraduate life science education.  The introductory lab courses noted above are taught in the newly opened Chaney-Hale Hall of Science.  The Department and College of Science have a vibrant group of scholars engaged in STEM and discipline-based education research.
