The Assistant Football Coach reports to the Head Football Coach, and the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach serves as the secondary report. The primary task is to assist the Head Coach in organizing, recruiting and developing a successful football program, as well as to assist the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach in conducting voluntary workouts for out-of-season student-athletes.

Specific Responsibilities
• Recruit quality student-athletes for the football program
• Develop and conduct organized practices as determined by the head coach
• Conduct voluntary workouts with out of season student-athletes as directed by the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach
• Serve as the primary monitor in the weight room in the spring season
• Counsel student-athletes in a positive manner
• Demonstrate good sportsmanship and ethical behavior at all times
• Adhere to all NCAA and conference rules and bylaws
• Develop positive rapport with athletics staff, as well as SU community
• Represent the university to various constituents in a professional manner

Education
Minimum Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree preferred.

Experience
Three years of football coaching (defensive) and recruiting experience required. College level experience preferred.

Additional Requirements
This position requires a valid driver's license, the ability to drive and qualify under the university's insurance carrier when driving a university and/or leased vehicle. CPR, AED and First Aid certification also is required. NSCA certification preferred.

Physical Demand
Position requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Position requires the ability to move about the campus. Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction ability to frequently convey detailed or important instructions and ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly. Position requires lifting, pulling, pushing: Exert up to 50 pounds for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires travel. Work is indoors and outdoors.
